They have a history of using stars as codenames, as Phenom I and II were named after them as well;
(Vega and VII)
(Agena, Phenom X4)
(Toliman, Phenom X3)
(Phenom II X4)
(Phenom II x6)
(Zosma, Phenom II x6 with two cores disabled)
And so on.
Please note it is not short for Navigator or any other nonsense that came up last time, it's just Ivan backwards because the guy discovered the star and had a sense of humor. How you pronounce it... it's LoZ OoT debates all over again. Nah-Vee will always be superior.
For those of us that grew up with Starcraft and a few other mediums though, it will be fun having a GPU named Arcturus. I expect it to emit a frequency that gives certain people headaches, attracts bugs, and occasionally kills off other important components for no reason.
