this is what i've pieced together after all this time.
don't blame "lazy devs", don't blame DX11.
NV would've built it into GameWorks if they gave a damn about the technology & didn't see it as inherently flawed. They would financially encourage it to be included along with all their other features, if they wanted it to be a thing.
now - there's the whole no one's really taken the time to get it done in DX12 yet, so you only have vulkan doing it.
future - i hope it comes back, how else will we drive true 4K VR headsets anytime soon otherwise?
