lol, I miss it a lot to be honest with you. Especially the days before the 4p boards took over, are those still even a thing for folding?!

I feel like I kind of just dropped off the face of the earth with folding after I moved.

No, they did away with the -bigadv work, and with that the interest in high core count kind of died off.

Ah the good old days of folding on 9800GX2 and 8800GT cards, and folding on quad and dual core CPUs
And before my time, there was no GPU folding...

And before that 1 task per thread so you'd have to open up multiple command prompts if you had a 2P for 2 whole cores. In like 2002 there was a project with credit less than 1 measly point

First 3 years was Gromacs core cpu only. October 2006 Gpu folding was introduced. SMP and PS3 clients of March that year.

[email protected] was the first to break petaFLOP barrier getting into the Genness World Records.

I remember setting up VMware to run Linux as SMP ran so much better than on windows (if it ran at all lol). And most of my overclocking was done for the bump in ppd it provided .

Yup, and then running 2x VMWare setups on a Q66 since they were really just 2x E66 glued together on a package.

When they released projects that used SSE2 there were tasks that ran 50% faster on my Centrino laptop compared to my AMD Barton desktop that was still clocked 50% faster.
