Slowing down WUs to squeeze a few extra points (30%ish) out of a HT CPU causes each of your WUs to get submitted later than the would if you did not run the second instance, and that has the potential to slow down the overall research despite cranking out more points.

This info comes straight from Stanford, so it's not a personal crusade of mine. I'm just passing along the best way of doing things in their opinion, which is something I highly value since they're the ones who put this whole thing together.

Within out team competition, HT is definitely a bad idea because it counts as 2 CPUs but only produces about 30% more points than running one instance that counts as 1 CPU. The above issues aside, you team will get the most points if they can fold with 8 physical CPU cores.
I thought that putting my fastest rig to work doing two instances would be a good thing--I understand what you are passing along and will take it into consideration.

From my point of view there are thousands and thousands of PCs Folding away--some faster than mine but most slower--in the scheme of things I can't help but wonder if it is really holding back the progress of the calculations to be Folding on my logical processor. If I was folding on a 1000mhz Coppermine (which I was until I killed the mobo) I can't help but see the OCed 3.0E doing more for the effort at Stanford even at a 30% reduction in overall production.

What are your thoughts on this Taeric?

As per PM, get those WUs going and in time the icon will return.
Glad you have things straightened out and hope you filled her in on why and what folding is about.
