My current rig consists of an AMD FX-8320 and an ASRock 970 Extreme4 motherboard but I have been wanting to upgrade to an Intel processor for some time since more and more of my time is sunk into CPU intensive games like ARMA 3.

I am wanting to sell my CPU and mobo soon and use the proceeds to help purchase an Intel i5-4690k with the MSI Z97 Gaming 5 mobo combo at Microcenter for ~$290. I am also moving next week and need to be a little tight on my cash but can splurge a question is whether or not this upgrade is going to be worth the hassle of trying to find someone to buy my components and then the extra money it will take to get the new rig?

Will it be worth it to upgrade: 100% worth it, without a doubt.

Well I went from an AMD FX-8320 @ 4.7ghz to my Intel i5 4670k @ 4.5ghz and I never looked back.
Single threading apps. Intel beat the heck out of AMD and we all know that.
Multi threading apps. That FX-8320 I had beats my Intel, but not by much.
AMD can't handle multi GPU setup that well, but Intel can.
Overall Intel is going to be better hands down.

It won't be much of an upgrade since the AMD 8 cores compete well with the i5s and can even come out on top when using all the cores, but for single-threaded performance the i5 is a ton better so it will feel like an upgrade even though it's just a side-grade just better suited to your needs.

If you really want an upgrade the i7s are what you should be looking at.
