Ryzen 3000 should be in the ballpark of a 6700k in gaming, so if that is what you will be using it for, a used 6700k will be cheaper overall.

Uh?
3800x should be around i9 9900k preformance if rumor holds true.

I'm looking at the 3700x which should have no problem beating even a i7 7700k

4 core 8 threaded CPU gets rekt in Shadow of the Tomb Raider or Battlefield V, especially the latter. Unless you'll find 7700k for like 50-60$, there's literally no point in buying one.

Actually Hardware Unboxed did something on this topic recently and basically laughed at anyone thinking of buying a 7700k. 4 cores are now relegated to the rear view mirror and your upgrade path compared to the Zen 2 would be dead, never mind that the Zen 2 would be faster.

Yeah go for it. I've seen multiple users having the same S issue.

R3 is about one of the most exciting things we've had on the cpu front in a long time. So naturally ppl like talking about it.

Well it sounds like everyone agrees ryzen 3000 is worth it.
TY everyone for get me off the fence.

If there someone has a 7700k that they want it sell on the cheap hit me up.
although i must admit it kinda sucks having to wait with system that is struggling with a broken core. Then buying in at launch and not getting the best value on the hardware.

The guy has 3 working threads. If he can go from that to the top 10% of what is out there in gaming performance for around $200 then yes there is a point. Still better overall than any AMD currently released and most Intel.

7700k is nowhere near the top 10% nowadays. I5 8400 is already outperforming 7700k overclocked to hell in quite a lot of circumstances due to higher pure core count and bigger cache. Seriously, unless he can grab one for 50-70USD there is no point getting the CPU as that's wasted money with no way of upgrading and being already hit hard by games. Agonize a bit with what you have right now and change platform.
