still torn

yes the i7 7700k has no path past that. which is fine. still and upgrade from what i currently have.
i'm not using the system for productivity only gaming and its at 1440p. which is still sold with the i7.

the ryzen 1800x is better with its 1% lows, but spending 700$(450$ difference) to have maybe up to 14% better 1% lows seem like a not so good idea.

where are you getting your $700 number from? and why is your option 7700K or 1800X?

7nm Ryzen launch on the 7th, the 1800 is basically 3 generations old at this point.

The 1800X is not $700? It's like $321 on newegg.com and 1st gen. Odd, it's $321 in US and $329 on newegg.ca in Canada. Something is off with newegg in US. Maybe there is no more and that is a 3rd party seller.

You can still find it on Amazon.com for $216.95.

Yes, that was the comparison and think how good you'll have it with a Zen 2 which is 3rd/present gen!

You're way better off with a Ryzen 5 3600 , Ryzen 7 2700X , or Ryzen 7 3700X IMO.

I bought into the Ryzen ecosystem when deciding between the i7-7700k and Ryzen 1st gen (around AGESA 1.0.0.6) and it's been the best decision.

700$ price Mark comes from 3700x + x570 mobo + better kit of ram to get the most out of the cpu.

600 to 700 for switching platforms.
Which will mostly only affect the 1% lows at 1440p 144hz even on the newer platform.

I just don't the price to performance being there. Even with i7 7700k being overpriced atm. If I already had the platform to run the 3700x it would be a no brainer.

Am I miss something here?

Yup, a database of three games that is completely useless. Though you can see clearly why you should not even consider 7700k by looking at the Far Cry 5 chart.
