Higher resolutions means the CPU becomes less important and the GPU becomes more important
If you where playing in 4K it would not matter all that much which CPU you picked

Previously I only really bought 60 series cards, starting now I'm going to be buying 70 series cards specifically a used 1070Ti, or 2070/2070S depending on the value.

How long do you think it would be before the 70 series cards get's the same performance as the 2080Ti? And how long before the GPU's get so good that I'm going to start to notice the difference between the 9900K and 3700X at 1440P?

I know we can't predict the future but I'm pretty sure you and other people have a better idea on this than me... obviously, haha!

I dont have any idea but i did buy an RTX 2070 Super last week to replace my old GTX 1080
I was planning on keeping the GTX 1080 and waiting for the next gen of cards but my best friend really needed a GPU so i sold my GTX 1080 to him as a favor

Í plan to test my RTX 2070 Super with more than 50 games and benchmarks in 1440P but my SSD is not big enough to hold all games and tests and the new SSD i ordered has been delayed
Edit: as for a 70 to match the 80 Ti you can dream on its going to take 3-4 gens of cards at least if Nvidia keeps it up like they have with the RTX cards
