Intel is the way to go if your into music production

Ive been running a DAW since I was 19 ,, 42 now..... and I remember how CPU intensive certain things were. I read on this site which I forgot how AMD suffer from poor chipset the way it handles real time audio work. For music producers will give you amazing latency while AMD will have lots of delay and lag with VSTi's poor frequency and not handle real time ***** well. . Also all other benchmarks the OCed HEDT blows 3950x out of the water. Now for this reason I am team blue,, got my Aorus Master x299x and Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 64GB 3200, even tho I do not have a windows on the side.. now I just wait on the CPU to come out........ 8 days into it, and no one has nothing! sighs

Wait didn't you just buy an X570 mobo?

And what is DAW?

Gah you lured me again with these threads.

Hey I bought the x570 motherboard then cancelled it after reading this information about Intel or AMD for DAW. Digital Audio Workstation. I use Sonar Platinum now known as Cakewalk by BanLab. I want it to be unlimimted and be able to open 100 VSTi's and 40 plugins and still have couple cores parked. Also ya the benchmarks show how when OCed the 10980XE comes out on top of the 3950. It costs more but you pay what your getting. Its 1k chip and worth every penny for me knowing this info on how AMD Chipset and memory controller and what not is laggy and higher latency on Music Production. That is a no no.... so ya Im team blue now, I goto the motherboard and RAM in my sig ,, now just waiting on the 10980XE ,, I hope its soon.

But..but... the 3950 and 10980XE aren't even in the same class to be comparing them.

Though I do agree the 10980 is the superior CPU of the two.

Your smart, well I mean if you want Intel you get a Xeon 28core or dual 28 core,, I dont need all that power the TR brings , which will also come with lower frequency compared to 3950x. Single core is important as well with music production,, I mean I think you pit the TR 32 core to a Xeon 28 core ,,,,,,,,,,,,, Ryzen just happpned to make a nice CPU which works on old chipsets...... As soon as I saw its a no no for music production and to get the 1080XE has AMD has bad latency and handling of real time synths and what not. So I changed to temp blue ... I payed a grip for mobo.

Digital Audio Workstation. It's for creating and editing audio, usually music. It can be as simple as a program, like Audacity, or it can be an elaborate workstation using multiple computers, programs, keyboards, etc.

I saw some listing for tray/oem chips but those aren't standard bid models

honestly, after hearing the work load. they could settle on any current gen similar intel chip and never notice a difference. they would be up and running in 48 hours.

Sounds like your software blows. Never had any problems on any Ryzen based platforms with VSTi's or with any properly setup interfaces. Infact, have built over 5 in the past two years supporting 48 channels or more in production... haven't heard a peep out of the clients. Seen my share of improper setups, broken hacked versions of programs, and crappy usb based interfaces wreaking havoc though.
