Did you know that 20 US states currently have proposed Digital Right to Repair bills which are moving through the system at various stages? Contact your state's representatives and make sure they understand how important our fair use rights are in the digital age! It is extremely unlikely these will ever see a general election.

wait, what chips does intel even produce in china? I thought all the processors came outa Costa Rica & Israel n stufuf. this key chatter issue erwoiernweornweroin

either way - yes, delays are expected. China is just now attempting to report a possible return to slight normalcy. no new reported cases in 24-48 hours, or whatever they're telling the intl media.

I figure most people these days have no idea where their products are made and just say "china" out of uncertainty.

And I thought only the r&d was in israel? I dunno for sure anymore though. Things are always changing.

My old G3258 said it was made in costa rica I remember. https://www.phoronix.net/image.php?i...ntium_cpu1_med

all i know is every time I check a chip, it says Costa Rica, at least for our K and X skus.

getting newer hardware may be the least of our worries soon. This no shots fired WW3 is getting weird.

China used to buy Intel chips for their supercomputers. They built the world's largest super. The US government decided that was a strategic threat and banned export of those chips to China. China responded by creating a crash priority national program to develop their own chips.

A few years later they owned the top supercomputer again, this time with homegrown chips. Now they threaten Intel's dominance in important emerging technologies.

That's called unintended consequences.
