Trying to hook my brother up with a nice PC for his birthday that he can play games on. (CoD4,5,MW2,Crysis, Aion, Sims3...) Im on a $800 budget to build this wanted to see some thoughts on this build.

Case: CM HAF922 $100
PSU: OCZ ModXtreme Pro 600w $75
Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-MA770T-UD3P $85
CPU: Phenom II X2 550 BE 3.1GHz $103
Graphics Card: XFX 4890$200
Memory: 4GB G-SKill DDR3 1333 $80
Hard Drive: 640GB WD $75
DVD Drive: Samsung SATA DVD Burner $31
__________________________________________________ ___
Total $751

still looking for a CPU cooler (if needed or will stock cooler do), and suggestions on changes or upgrades while keeping it under $800. Also not to found of the PSU, but was cheap/modular any thoughts? I'd like to keep it a ddr3 machine if he ever wanted to make upgrades himself. =D

For a budget dual core build, go with the Mugen 2. It will keep that CPU nice and cool.

But if I were you, I would try to find some of those parts used here on OCN.

With the money saved, get a quad.

Looks legit to me, if he is going to overclock, or learn how to, throw in a Xigmatek Dark Knight.

1. for budget, get a Antec 300, and use the saved $$$ on a 720 BE.
2. i'd get a Corsair PSU but i'm biased

PSU+Mobo: Corsair 750 TX + Asus mobo 190$ "160 MIR"
CPU: AMD PHII X3 120$
GPU:HIS 4890 190$ 180 MIR Free shipping
Case:HAF932 140$
RAM: OCZ 2X2 GB 1066 55$ Free shipping
H.D.D:WD 1TB 90$
DVD: DVD Writer (Yours) 30$
-------------------------------------------------------------
Total 815$ and you have like 30-40$ MIR which will cover shipping and the extra 15$

I changed the case and added a better CPU.. also you have enough room in your case and power in you PSU to add another Card in the Future.

Oh yeah, I'm Back.

thanks for the replies:
x3 720BE will work out nice as it's only a few dollars more, and i'm going to switch to the Haf932.
How will the 750tx work out in the HAF932 as it is a non modular psu, and cable length in a full tower case?
Also what manufacture would you recommend for the 4890 as HIS reviews seem to come to the conclusion the card runs HOT, HOT, HOT, and as Blindrage606 said the XFX's are performing underpar.

Thanks again for everyones input.

I would stay away from the xfx 4890's. Some of them use a non standard PCB which have many problems with them. Go Sapphire or something
