Mobile Site BROKEN, DO NOT USE !

Hello All,

As some of you will have already noticed, for the last couple of weeks, some threads and posts are seemingly garbled with random characters and symbols which makes reading virtually impossible (or at the very least unpleasant). This is a site flaw on the Mobile Version of the site. Unfortunately this has yet to be resolved by the VS developers. I have no news as to when or if there will be a fix released for this bug. I can only apologize for any inconvenience caused on behalf of VS. I am of course sorry that the user experience has deteriorated yet again ! I will be chasing up on this one with VS regularly until I get a satisfactory response.

While it is inconvenient on mobile devices, I would recommend using the full site interface to post replies or create threads, otherwise your content will come through garbled and virtually unreadable.

The mobile site flat-out doesn't work at all on Firefox Android.

Sometimes the only way to make people aware of a fire is to set the whole town ablaze.

Agreed. Main page loads about 10% of the time, but as soon as a link is followed the page loads as blank.

Question, is the text still messed up if using Tapatalk (which I don't, just curious...)?

Cant say, the platform does not officially support Tapatalk, I know it works but I do not use it so I do not know whether using Tapatalk would be a suitable workaround.

I've seen a few posts with that "sent with ... using tapatalk" signature and they all looked fine, so I'm guessing tapatalk works correctly.

Latest version of Brave browser (privacy-oriented fork of Chrome/Chromium) also has the "blank page after load" issue for the mobile version of the site. Actually, mobile has been broken for some number of months in this manner in Brave. It blocks a lot of trackers and cross-site scripting, but not all, so this may be why. (I always personally switch to desktop mode anyway.)

Hope this helps, you may have already known, though.

Thank you for what you do and continually trying to make the site better, as well as finding a way to keep it online despite hosting bills, Enterprise.

Apologies for my tone in some of my previous messages complaining about what the site is now; at least its still online, usable, and rep is back. Hope you get it sorted.

Thank you for your kind words, I have noted this issue and will see if I can replicate it. What I will say is that I know VS only support the majot browsers, Edge,Chrome and FF. While Brave is a using Chromium it all comes down to how the Brave developers have implemented it. I am however like you under the impression it is likely the page fails to load due to the inherent blocking of scripts/api's etc. As we know VS like to deploy a fair few of these so it could very well be this.
