Of course, we notified EVGA of our findings, even though the company wasn't able to send a review sample before or after our mishap with the store-bought solution, stating it didn't have any to send. This looks suspicious to us, since plenty of online stores have them in stock. Seasonic recently started providing review samples through online stores to show it has nothing to hide. And after our trouble with EVGA, this approach is starting to look a lot better for transparency.

It also wouldn't be the first PSU thread shilka has made that had a representative see/post in it.

Sig's kind of broke a little. It's okay, I needed to update it anyway XD

I missed that post, but a representative seeing the post, or posting in the thread, isn't the same as contacting them formally. I hope you realize that.

Yes, I read the part about him notifying EVGA, just clarifying my POV.

Until we get to the bottom of failures across EVGA's B3 family (something that would almost require the company's cooperation), we do not recommend the 850 B3. While it's apparently less likely to treat you to a fireworks show (unlike the 450 B3), an 850W PSU selling for $100 that dies after OPP testing is not good. Super Flower's platform needs fine-tuning to improve its reliability (and safety). As of right now, it appears the 850 B3 wasn't tested extensively enough before it goes into mass production. After all, tuning takes time, increasing production costs, and that's not a good thing when it comes to budget-oriented PSUs.

EVGA recalled a batch of the G2 series back in the day for a flaw smaller and less serious then one found on the B3 series so what i think they should do is either make a clarification that they are doing something to repair the OPP problem

Or just recall the whole B3 series
Failing to do either could end up costing EVGA more in the long run because of all the bad PR this might result in

If you messed up really badly its better to admit it deal with it and get it over with as fast as possible
If you look at the EVGA GTX 1070 and GTX 1080 FTW cards that overheated because of insufficient cooling they fixed that problem with thermal pads and later made a much improved version in the form of the FTW2 cards

Please make some sort of clarification or statement EVGA.

If you read it, that was a quote from toms.

Also they already had about the 450w worth no reply

The bold part is from Tom's, yes I understand that. The rest is from shilka though, which are the main parts I'm referring to....

The quoted part directly above this is close to pointless, unless EVGA is directly contacted. Without them being contacted directly, posting in here is very similar to yelling it in a field - there may end up being a rep in that same field, but most likely, one won't be....Then the next issue arises, will that rep forward information gained from a forum to the appropriate person/people within the company? If he forwarded every suggestion or complaint he finds here, that alone would be a full-time job.

Thats up to you really but if you dont feel comfortable with the defective OPP you should return it and get something else
If you dont care about the the defective OPP or dont want to bother to return it you can just keep it

Now that you mention it i have wondered why OklahomaWolf from Jonnyguru have not have the same problem with defective OPP?
What does Tomshardware test different then OklahomaWolf?

Edit: i have known about the defective OPP for about a month now but decided not to make a thread earlier because of the possibility that Tomshardware just got a bad one off
But if two samples that does not even have the same wattage have the same problem then the problem appears to be more then a one off

Edit two: as for contacting EVGA i did not have time to when i made the thread because i was about to go to sleep
I have just sent a PM to EVGA Jacob but i dont know how often he is online here on OCN so it might be a while before he sees it
