Well well well the plot thickens and i now have an answer for why the samples OklahomaWolf from Jonnyguru got seemed so much better then the ones Aris from Tomshardware got

The answer to that question is OklahomaWolf received a press kit B3 made by Super Flower where Aris went out to a store and bought an off the shelf example and those are made by RSY which is a subcontractor

So in short EVGA sent a sample to OklahomaWolf better then the ones you find in a store so thats why it passed his testing unlike Aris which got an example exactly like all the rest of us consumers would get

This is about the most strange thing i have heard about in years if it really is true and is probably why EVGA has not made any statements
All of this info has come from jonnyGURU on the jonnyGURU forum and from Aris on the Tomshardware review page

Yeah, you'd almost be better off getting the 520W SeaSonic S12II: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/fZyFf7/seasonic-power-supply-s12ii520bronze

And that's the one I've been suggesting to people.

Sig's kind of broke a little. It's okay, I needed to update it anyway XD

The S12II is still group regulated so the something with DC-DC would be better
The S12G series is not all that much more.

I'm recommending it because of the price. It's only a couple dollars more. My goal was to find a better PSU for the same price.

Going by price one could agure that CX550 is a better option in some ways
Worse build quality then the S12II yes but on the other hand better voltage regulation

Not saying one is better then the other just saying at the same price both would be options.

I admit I still have a hard time being comfortable recommending the CX series. lol I guess it's purely psychological.

So does this mean G3 suffers from the same issue or is it specifically B3?

Or is this thread a typo. I typically don't buy based on Reviews. I chose the EVGA SUPERNova 850w G3 based on size, power output and warranty, over that of the Seasonic unit of roughly the same size and power output and warranty. In the end 10 year < 2 year.

But if the unit has issues, I may simply return it upon arrival and try again. I need a small unit to fit my Dell XPS 8700 and one that has enough output to push my XFX RX480 OC Edition card. 850w is a little higher than it needs to be but I like a little headroom on my Gaming cards. Eventually the Card will land in my Ryzen system, but that's not for a while since I'm on a tighter budget due to kids. tongue.gif

I am really starting to feel my Oats as a long time member of OCN. Why did we go back to this system again?
