NEW Seasonic Models In the UK yet ? and other questions

Hi all,

I have been looking for a Seasonic FOCUS Plus Platinum 850W PSU and found out about this newer model that is replacing the older one. I have read that you have now took out the in line caps from the cables, is this true ?. I have also read that you have fixed the Vega 56 and shut down problems with the new PSU is this true ? and what other fixed or improvments have you done to this PSU.

I was also looking at the Seasonic ULTRA Platinum 850W becasue they dont have the in line caps but do these have the same problems as the Focus for the Vega cards and shutdown problems ?

I can not find the new Foucus models here in the UK do manufactures not know if there getting the newer models when replacing there stock and selling them under the older brand model name ? as i have looked on amazon UK as I am in the UK and can only see them selling the SSR-850PX

any help on these questions would be great

The only change to the Focus models is the name and another EPS cable to the 650 watt otherwise there are no changes to the Focus models they are the same so they have not been replaced or changed

You might be mixing the Prime and the Prime Ultra models up with the Focus models as those have seen changes like removing the caps on the cables on the Prime Ultra compared to the older Prime
As for the Vega issues on the Focus models those were addressed a long time ago

Hi there thanks for replying, I found some more info about this on there website

The newly upgraded FOCUS PX and GX series are the successor to the FOCUS PLUS Series, which became an instant the top seller in the power supply market after its launch in 2017. In 2019, Seasonic engineers have made improvements on the popular series, removing the inline capacitors on the supplied cables. Besides the small change in the series naming, the PSU housing and its packaging are also updated to be in line with the concept of the OneSeasonic Initiative

so it seems they have removed the inline caps

Why have caps on the cables if you can achieve the same results by making improvements on the inside thats what they did with the Prime Ultra they removed the caps on the cables and made improvements on the inside and the result was the same so it does not matter if there are caps on the cables or not

its does make a difference if your trying to bend cables in tight corners and or replace the cables with moded cables which you could not do if they had caps in them, you could extend them i suppose.

I meant it makes no difference in the power delivery

Hello,

Yes, slowly the FOCUS GX and PX will start to spread over all channels. However, it's also depending of the current stock of FOCUS Plus so it may be a question of a few weeks, maybe less (for example in NL, they will start to be available by next week).

Thank you.
Best Regards,
