Remember the golden rule of statistics: A personal sample size of one is a sufficient basis upon which to draw universal conclusions.
Upload the computer to Dropbox and provide a link to it so others may download it to examine and give advice for repairs.

What is your reasoning Fractal Design Ion+ is better?

Comparing the two in 850/860 watt range the Fractal Design Ion+ is better priced not everywhere but most places making it a better value for money
It can do 955 watt compared to 910 watt on the Seasonic before shutting off which means the Fractal Design Ion+ is slightly more overbuilt

12v ripple ripple suppression is slightly better and efficiency at 100% load is 2,2% better
The fan at full speed is 2db more quiet compared to the Seasonic

In short its better in almost every way thats why i said its better because it just is has nothing to do with branding or anything like that
The Seasonic does a few things better like 3,3v and 5v rail ripple suppression but more often than not the Fractal Design Ion+ does everything better

Edit: if you are asking why i was looking at 850/860 watt reviews it was because it was the only two reviews kitguru had to compare apples to apples

Overloading is a fancy feature that no one should really care about, ripple differences and efficiency at 100% is completely gimmick. Pretty much PSUs above Gold is pure bourgeoisie that costs WAY more than it's worth and what it lets save.

If its the same price or cheaper and its better why would you take the worse option
The only thing that Seasonic might do better is customer service as i have no idea how good Fractal Design customer service is

From what I read without overload shutdown with the PSU it could catch fire.

You dont need to worry about that a 550 watt is more than power for the system you have
As for which one you are free to make your own choice one is slightly better than the other but none of them are in any way bad
