are evga g3 power supplies dangerous?

odd question to ask but i was browsing LTT forums and noticed in their PSU forums they have a thread that ranks PSU's and they rank the evga g3 as a "D, dangerous." i'm kinda shocked because I thought the g3's where solid, reliable psu's? they actually recommend a lot of other psu's above it. like rosewill stuff like capstone and lightning as a "A." did something change?

They probably mixed up the B3 with the G3
Can you give me a link to that page?

As for the G3 the worst thing it is is loud

Maybe because I've been Seasonic user for decades I admit, my opinion might be in some ways biased so take it with a pinch of salt, but I heard to many bad stories of their PSU's weird failures and that goes to all range of their PSU's.

At least in my book here are 3 brands If I had to choose from:

Seasonic (never failed me and the build quality is superior)
Cooler Master (never had single issue, but, still, many of their high-end PSU's are thin skin build)
Corsair (never had issue either, but, again I think their build quality is not as though as Seasonic)

All 3 brands are great and I guess its psychological mind set after using specific brand for so many years.

Corsair dont make any of the PSU´s they sell its all made by 3rd party OEM´s in China same with Asus, Antec, EVGA, Cooler Master, Be Quiet, Bitfenix, Fractal Design and Phanteks just to name a few
Almost every brand other than Great Wall, HighPower, CWT, FSP, HEC, Delta, Super Flower and Seasonic have their stuff made by a 3rd party OEM

The ones above are some of the few that both make and sell their own units and also sell their stuff to some of the companies i mentioned in the first line
The EVGA G3 is a rebrand of the Super Flower Leadex II

Edit: by the way many if not the majority of Cooler Master PSU´s are mediocre at best and trash at worst
Just because you dont have problems with them does not mean they are actually good

Seriers like the Silent Pro Gold have piss poor ripple suppression

I would like to see the Evga G3 dangerous links. I have not seen any bad reporting about Evga except for the load fan.

It has not been updated in a long time but almost everything untill the last year or two is listed on these two sites

http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_a...wDatabase.html
http://www.orionpsudb.com/

If you look under Corsair you can see that most of their units are made by CWT with a few Great Wall, HEC, Seasonic, Chicony and Flextronics mixed in
A good tip is if you see anything made by HEC more often that not its not going to be very good and Enhance Electronics while better dont have a super good track record either

Edit: worst OEM ever is Deer aka Solytech

this is their tier list thread: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic...ist-40-rev-40/

i tried looking at their sources they used for the g3 and the only semi negative was from tom where they said they set otp high but they still praised the g3 as a solid, high end psu. jonnyguru loved it and didn't say anything about the otp. trying to sort through comments all i can find is some saying g3's can have a decent chance of blowing up and fry your parts?? i'm so confused. i love my g3...

i saw this review for the new g5 and toms even recommends the g3 over it.. https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews...pply,6344.html and if you look at the comments for that toms link is someone else posting the linus tech tips thing too concerned about the g3 because he's confused why toms is recommending the g3 over it since its "dangerous." i honestly don't know why they are telling people to stay away from the g3. i can't find ANYTHING about it actually being dangerous and blowing up in droves. yeah there have been "defective" units but it isn't anymore than anything else high quality out there. i can't find any "epidemic" to tell people to stay away because its "dangerous." am i simply missing something that linus isn't?

ah man, such a blast to the past.

what happened to your quote? "almost all PSUs are manufactured by someone else"?

as to the LTT bit, it's likely an oversight, typo, or they're proving their level of knowledge. They've yet to add a proper PSU testing bench to the studio as far as I know, so how can they properly review them?

R.I.P. Zawarudo, may you OC angels' wings in heaven.
If something appears too good to be true, it probably is.
