Need new PSU

My old EVGA 1050 GS died last night after almost 5 years of service. Had a 7yr warranty, I think Seasonic was the oem.

I quickly ran out to micro center and got the evga 1000 G3. I see now that it actually gets very good reviews. I also see now that I got shafted on price (paid 230 for it), where I could get a titanium unit for less.

I'm tempted to order a different more efficient psu.

What are the best ones out there currently for around 1000W, that are either platinum or titanium rated? I used to use jonnyguru, but looks like they stopped making new reviews since 2018.

Looking for excellent reliability and power delivery.

G3 is the SUPERFLOWER LEADEX II which is top of the line. Not a bad price but they sometimes are on sale for less.

If your GS PSU still has 2 years of warranty then you should RMA it to EVGA.

If I can find the receipt I definitely will, could use it with my old hardware as a server build.

I know the G3 is supposed to be really good. But what else good is out there at P or T efficiency? I'm just not sure which sites offer reliable reviews these days for PSUs. Jonny guru was the best, but he stopped.

Or should I just get a Seasonic PX/TX and call it a day?

Also saw the EVGA 1000 T2 on sale for less than the G3.

If you registered the EVGA PSU when you bought it, you probably don't need a receipt for RMA'ng.

The only thing wrong with the G3 is its super aggressive fan profile whed used in eco mode
https://www.overclock.net/forum/31-p...e-problem.html

With that being said EVGA has started to overprice their PSU´s so depending on what you paid for it you might want to return it and get something just as good or better for the same price
Edit: $230 is a ripoff so yes return and you dont need a 1000 watt PSU for your system its more than 2 and close to 3 times what your system will draw

Anything more than a 750 watt is a waste of money if you only have one GPU so yes return the G3

I will be adding a whole watercooling setup down the line with dual pumps and stuff.

So I'll probably just order the Seasonic Prime TX 850. Or perhaps the PX which is even cheaper. Is titanium rating even that necessary?

There is about a 2% difference in efficiency so its up to you if you want to pay the extra for 2%
You still dont need an 850 watt even for the most balls to the walls liquid cooling setup you can think of

Your system draw is than 500 watts so 850 watts is way overkill and even a 650 watt is more than enough
Have you ever tried taking a kill a watt and putting it on the PC outlet you would be surprised by how little power your PC actually uses

Edit: you can get a 750 watt if that makes you feel better but anything higher is just overkill and money spent for no reason

Yeah, I'll stick to platinum rated. I'll try to find a good deal on a Seasonic Prime PX one then. A 12 year warranty is nice as well

Only Seasonic offers that length of warranty here, so it makes perfect sense to get their product line without question.
