PSU for pump and fans

I’m looking for a second PSU to run my WC system and fans.
Would be powering 2-6 pumps and say 40-60 fans, couple of Aquaero’s, few Quadro’s and so forth.

Like to run it separate from my main rig so the cooling is always powered even in sleep.

So please help me find how much power I’d need for this and a decent PSU for it all.

0.3A (probable peak during rev up)*12V per fan = 3.6W per one;
23W per pump (figure from EKWB EK-Quantum InertiaD5 pump).

So:
Fans: 60x3.6=216W + 5% of that for safety measures = 227W;
Pumps: 6*23=138W + 8% for higher inertia of the pump than the fan = 150W

Which equals to 377W, so you'd need at least 400W PSU for a sweatfree operation for just a waterloop system. Bear in mind that I have no idea what pumps you've got and how much power do they draw but that data is usually written in pumps specs.

PSU for pump and fans

So around 400w. K that’s doable

Thanks, I suck at math

Yes, but double check rated power of your pumps. It'd be sad if they're 40W each x)

Atm am running dual MCP35X2’s. Would change to a pair of D5’s and still debating more then that. Likely may end up with 7 radiators just cause I can.

highly unlikely its actually anywhere near 400w of power. The fan math tends to become more and more inaccurate the more fans you add. Wonder if Janco can confirm that as well, with his giant MORA setup.

My entire desk draws less than 600W when gaming, with 36 AP15s n 2 pumps in the loop + my monitor, DAC, & AMP (schiit)

either way, I think the best bet these days would be a pico.

Add me on Steam, same name

Yeah even 400 would be a stretch, though I am prone to overkill.
May need to explore other options.

I'd add2PSU into the smallest biggest 24 pin you can find.

looks like pico might only go to 250 though.

this is how I originally ran my STH10 back in Sandy/Keplar days.

board + peripherals on one PSU, PCI-E section on another.

Thanks. I’ll look into that.
Already have an add2psu from my media server as I needed a second PSU to run my 24 HDD’s.
