Hey everyone,

We in the Folding Section of OCN are ever expanding with new members looking with the common goal of [email protected].  I'm here to make a small request for any extra freebies you may have to help build some excitement for the monthly Foldathons.  We also have many members always looking for extra pieces of hardware to fold on.

What's a Foldathon?
Similar to the BOINCers Gione Boncers:  It is a 48-hour period from Noon EST, Monday - Friday near the end of the month, where folders all over OCN sign-up to see how much we can contribute to the global [email protected] initiative.  You only ever have to sign up once with your own [email protected] username and you are automatically entered in to all future Foldathons as long as you fold during those periods.  [email protected] is a distributed computing platform that makes use of your spare CPU and GPU cycles to complete research relating to protein folding.  When you complete a "work unit" you get a point value for it depending on how fast you completed it.  For this reason we use the points as a gauge of how much Folding we are doing as a team.

The goal of the Foldathon is to all get together for just 2 days of the month and Fold as much as possible.  Many folders will take these 2 days off from gaming so that they contribute as much as possible.  Others just can't afford to fold all month so they come out for just the Foldathons.  There is no minimum number of work units required either, as long as you fold a single unit, you are in the draw for prizes.  We also have a side pot of prizes dedicated strictly to the recruiting efforts of members.

How do I donate my prize and are there any restrictions?
Typical marketplace rules apply on what can be donated. If you are not allowed to post it on the Overclock.net Marketplace, then it will not be allowed to be placed in the prize pool for Foldathons.

You MUST cover the shipping costs if shipping within your country of residence.  If the prize goes to someone out of country, then it will be up to the winner and the donor to figure out shipping costs.  I will be involved in all PM threads for prizes in case clarification is required.

Send a Private Message to axipher with the item that you wish to donate and pics of the item(s) (if possible) or link to the item on the web (if possible) and it's value.

Why donate your freebie towards Foldathons?
You will be helping the Overclock.net OCN Team expand its efforts and gain more exposure.  The prizes will be given to those that help OCN contribute as much as possible to researching cures for diseases.

All you need to do is tell us what you are donating, and we will message you when a winner for your prize is determined. This means less time taken on your part!

If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to send me a private message.
