DEAD GTX1080(RMA UPDATE: RTX2070)

I have an MSI GTX1080 ARMOR from a friend that no longer works. It was going up to 95Degrees then suddenly died. It is certified dead as system will not post with it everything plugged in. System posts fine without the card plugged in. I suspect its related to issue when my friend first got the card, it would shutdown and reboot the pc in games. Afterwards, it would work, which indicates there was something up with the card from day one but my friend did not care to warranty it then. I have opened an RMA and will be sending in for examination. Shipping is not covered.

Update. I got word from msi and I don't understand what they are saying. However, there's chance it got replaced. That changes the value of the card. I will find out when I get back from vacation.

No time line on my final decisions as will be very busy when I get back. Personal stuff and I have bunch of stuff I bought that needs to be returned.
1. Mate 20 pro because Its has the LG panel and already has greenish screen defect.
2. MAY REFUND 2080ti founders (already rma once) and get an aftermarket one from evga.

Apologies for the misleading title (now updated). I figure the RTX2070 is likely one of those fixed/returned dead 2070. This contest is likely dead due to the fact warranty is now expired and that repaired/dead RTX20xx series cards are unfixable or ticking time bombs (no one knows whats causing the issue).

I'm in if shipping costs aren't too much, thank you.

However I would think MSI would RMA it for you/your friend.
