Linux OS for a new user

Hello users,

This question may be offtopic here, but i need your kind suggestions. I am now going to reinstall an operating system in my computer.
I had Windows 10 earlier. Now I am thinking to use Linux. I have not used it before so I have a few doubts.

Will it be difficult to use and understand Linux?
Will Linux be faster than Winodows 10?

Thanks

Well... uh..., if you are asking this question, i would presume you are not ready for it, and you do not need it.
But lets answer the questions.

If you have NEVER worked with CMD or Powershell, yea, it will be difficult to understand.

Faster in what, downloading porn? Each has its own use cases. Linux is not recommended for gaming.

If you want a Linux OS, that resembles a bit Windows, i would suggest Linux Mint. Its a Ubuntu deriative.

I also suggest Linux Mint Cinnamon. See
for details on how to install and get started using. I also suggest this forum for support: https://www.ezeelinux.com/talk/

Understand that Linux works completely differently from Windows and there will be a steep learning curve since you will have to unlearn everything you learned about Windows.

If you choose easy to use distro it wont be hard, but don't assume things work like they do on windows. I installed linux mint on my dads pc, and i would say that it seems really easy to use. I may not be best for telling that, because i dont use mint myself, this is my first impression of mint, i use gentoo that is one of hard to use distros.

On desktop usage linux can often be faster, and doesnt slow down with time like windows.

If you want to play games then it will usually perform worse, and many games need tweaks to run good. Not recommended if you want it easy. Its getting better with steam play proton, many games run good out of box, but still many have problems or dont work at all.

Hi,
Mint mate or just mint is a lot like xp

Zorin is more like win-7 I've yet to try it there is a paid version pretty cheap 20.us or so and a free one too.

Linux is a pain it's like using a standard user account in windows always being asked to enter a password instead of in windows you just have to click yes to continue uac stuff
Kind of silly seeing it's supposed to be a Super user account lol

If you have a laptop I wouldn't even bother with Linux. They still don't have proper touchpad drivers. On desktop, I'd probably go with Mint.
