As an aside, I love how fact checking, which is easier than ever now, is something modern "journalists" can't be bothered to do.

People are killed every day by human driven Vehicles...

So far the death count by self driving cars is far less than human driven ones...

We are just so accustom to seeing people being hit and killed by human driven cars that it doesn't even hit the news these days...

Let's just not blow this out of proportion.

Now I'm not going to start pointing fingers, but i'm sure both parties were not fully aware of their environment.

Now while this tech is still very much in the early phases, a few deaths is going to happen... Sadly that is just how it goes... That is how progress works. Find a problem and make it better...

http://wjla.com/news/local/pedestria...ria-police-say

https://nypost.com/2018/02/20/5-year...car-dies-cops/

https://nypost.com/2017/11/25/boy-ri...r-in-brooklyn/

These are just a few examples. And some of these could have been avoided with some of the safety tech already in place in newer vehicles...

Self Driving cars are the only thing that can bring down the yearly 1.3 million deaths in auto accidents. From millions to hundreds. Mark my word. These are not a novelty...

I don't care how pro you think you are at driving, you will not be a safer driver than a self driving system in the years to come...

Sure it is tragic when someone dies in a auto accident. And at this very minuet as i'm typing this i'm sure another human has killed another in a auto accident.

The vehicle in question is not an Electric car. Not sure why you choose to sprinkle this into the conversation. Last time I checked, electric cars still have head lights and signals. Also, hybrid vehicles are at times incredibly quiet.

And to others, I really don't understand how on a forum for technology and computing, we are so paranoid about emerging technology. Even if someone dies from an autonomous vehicle on occasion, this technology is already proving to be safer then a standard driver behind the wheel. By the same logic, we should ban refrigerators because children sometimes get trapped inside them.

Hi,

I'd like someone to tell me witch problem such a solution like automated cars is trying to solve ...
Not having to drive oneself ? We have trains, buses already ...

And remember that in 2018, a word document can pwn your computer, and last I've checked, even hardware is insecure because some companies decided speculative execution could do without security level OK, no one will notice.

Putting this in an autonomous car ? Seriously ?

This will result in knee-jerk over-reactions like almost everything in today's world. Meanwhile, back at the Legion of Doom, there are much more impacting aspects of today's world that need attention more than things like this.

Teslas are not considered self driving or autonomous. Regardless of how people use them or early marketing it is a different classification.

IDK maybe the 1.3M Deaths a year from Human Drivers....

This tech will reduce it greatly.

Tesla never sold that car as self driving, autopilot is a driver assist tool only.
