So, that NN repeal that went into effect a few months ago is somehow responsible for speed increases that were years in the making? What good are those speed increases with data caps?

I dont live in the USA but i seriously want ISP's to leave the dark ages behind and drop asymmetric connections... 10Mbits up is way too slow (the best i could get is 20).

Unfortunately, my internet speeds have not gone up at all and the prices only rise.

My local ISP has a monopoly over much of the area. They were awarded money from my state government to upgrade the lines for fiber but the new lines would be available to other ISPs to offer service through. So guess what, they haven't spent a cent upgrading lines to existing homes or apartments. They will only use it on new buildings to cover the installation costs. This way they can keep their monopoly over the majority of the customer base.

So they can still charge us $75/mo for 25/1 internet with a 650GB download cap.
