All the more reason to not buy from them if you know they're making more profit on products that perform the same.

Because this will damage AMD. 10% is not good enough for them. They have loans to pay. They have to pay salaries, fuel R&D for the GPU department A LOT, and finish the CPU R&D for Zen 2.

Sometime in the future, maybe they will open a CPU fab once again.

But profit is how much you (or don't) end up with after all costs, including R&D, loan payments, salaries, etc.

Dropping their profits from 40% to 10% is better for everyone except Intel. I'm sure thousands of people would rather spend $160 on an AMD CPU that performs almost as well as an Intel CPU (8700K) that sells for $370. If they drop their profits to 10%, they'll likely end up making even more profit in the long run.

Gross vs Net.

#2 their debt is insane, even for a "diverse field" company. They cannot even afford to service the debt maintenance let alone make an actual dent in the debt itself. - Internet Stranger

Except in multi-threaded because moar coars, the difference is negligable.
