Damage control. Whether it's temporary or long-term, right now there is a lot less variety of items shipped and sold by Amazon or fulfilled by Amazon.
If they continue to follow through on this move they offload a lot of risk onto sellers. Even if they reverse, it's already made a credible threat to wholesalers and shippers that can be used to extract lower pricing. Either way Amazon wins, and they can afford to lose money for a very long time waiting for the results to play out.

Third party vendors are usually crooks. As an example you can find a Vega 64 from Amazon.com for $400 but the third party vendors will sell them at $1500.

If it's not sold and shipped by Amazon, 99% of the time it's ignored.

Buy directly from Amazon, 99% of the time, correlated with best price and comes with assurances.

This will not be good for Amazon going the way of Alibaba/eBay. Woe to the consumer.

This is where I have to disagree. Newegg has fell dramatically, at least on amazon I can ask my shipping speed. Since my Address is an FPO AP address(Military). They put me on something called MPX (Has to do with Military Parcel Exchange or something of the other, not fully sure.) This puts me out $8.00 for something that's called space available. Space available has no priority, even if the package is at the front of the Que they put all the 1st Class, priority and express on first. then if there is room my box gets put in the load. Back in 2010 I could choose my shipping speed. I would receive stuff from Newegg in roughly 7 days. After the start of this MPX stuff I receive my stuff in 4 weeks if I am lucky. At least if I order something from Amazon or even Ebay, roughly 7 days later my package arrives. IS there someplace to buy electronics other than these 2 places.

There's Microcenter but I don't know if it would be better or not. It says they ship to APO/FPO boxes with USPS. The problem with ordering from Microcenter is a lot of things are for in-store pickup only.

Also B&H. Their shipping options say nothing about APO/FPO boxes, but it does say they ship internationally through DHL.

I still stand by my statement. I still get pretty good service from Newegg, even though it has slipped a little. My biggest complaint about Newegg is they are keeping less in their own stock than they used to, depending on marketplace vendors to take up the slack (I avoid the marketplace vendors).

Amazon, on the other hand, caused me all knds of grief in the form of sending wrong products, often repeatedly, doing a piss poor job packaging, resulting in broken products, often with the replacement products also getting broken, the completely incompetent "service" of their own carrier, customer "service" live reps being useless (the chats and emails were "manned" by badly programmed bots), etc. I finally got fed up with their crap and, except for e-books, I simply will NOT do business with Amazon.

Not sure how it really goes but it sounds like another layer of typical company business buying elsewhere for cheap then reselling coupled with another you snooze you lose phenomenon. Kinda seems like scalping though. No idea if that's illegal.

I've seen a lot of youtube vids about it. Walmart clearance hunters.

Great local brickstore deals are gonna be harder to find as the time goes by thanks to more and more people learning about this arbitrage thing.

Exactly, scoop up all the Radeon VII for instance at $699 and turn around and sell them on Amzon/Newegg/eBay at $1500. Makes me sick.

It's exactly the same thing as scalping but people get away with it because, unlike scalping in most places, it hasn't been made illegal yet.

So instead of running an actual warehouse they get to offload the logistics/costs onto some third party "contractor". Lol this is just another step in turning everything into the "sharing/gig economy".
