I'm not denying that the possibility is slim to none, but you know. One can hope.

Myspace was the original. Facebook is now for 'old' people meaning non millennials. Kids are using mostly snapchat these days. I know because I have to take my 17 YOs phone from him every night at 10PM, he gets it back in the morning and I have to turn it off or get pinged with snapchat notifications all freaking night. We HAD issues getting him out of bed every morning despite asking him to be responsible and turn it off or suffer the consequences. Well he is suffering the consequences and miraculously he actually gets sleep and is not so hard to get out of bed anymore.

if only this could become policy for all these massive data hording & sharing entities.

Delete all user data every so often. Can only retain for up to X years, before deleting. something.

What is it with forums, social media, etc. not having proper backups before attempting migrations (I'm looking at you, VS)?

13 years ago it might have mattered that they lost data. I am amazed that they still have servers to screw up.
