When the music generator is good enough we will know because YouTube will copyright infringement block it lol.

I was never able to understand the vast majority of death metal lyrics anyway, the only vocal style that can be convincingly generated by an AI with no comprehension of language or meaning at all - not sure if that's good for AI or bad for death metal.

I fully agree that this is not everybody's cup of tea, but from a purely technological standpoint, comments such as JackCY's first post (#8) further affirm that this is an impressive feat.
Please do not get me wrong - feedback such as this, whether it be positive or negative, is quite descriptive of the level of familiarity of the "synthetic" version to the source that it is more or less replicating.

So, Darren9, why shouldn't it be both?

It's not horrible, but it's not really great either. It's more grind than tech death though. Think Cephalic Carnage, not Beyond Creation.

As a death metal fan I can tell the AI does not "understand" what works and what does not. It just generates frames of sound without any understanding of human perception.

It would need more bands to learn better. It can't possibly recreate an entire sub-genre by listening to a single band, especially when the spectrum is pretty gigantic.
