No, some boats should sink. and make coral reefs!

Care to elaborate why that is funny? Intel's 10nm is about similar density as TSMC 7nm, while Intel's 7nm is competing node against TSMC's 5nm.
I like how all this turned into Intel vs AMD when I was criticizing the article itself lol.

Maybe because it is a useless metric used only for marketing. The only metric that matters is how the node performs.

You are giving him more credit than he deserves

anyways, Samsung's roadmap looks even worse with 7, 5, 4, and 3nm planned up to 2020/21. (Samsung's 3nm is competing node against TSMC 5nm, though it is aiming to be first with GAAFet)

It's a meme because all we've heard for years and years and years (since Broadwell!) is how great Intel's 10nm is/will be and how much better it is than [insert whatever other Fab you like who's actually making functioning products]. It's tough to take seriously anything that isn't, you know, a real consumer product.

Is Intel really behind?

I'd have bought a 9900k but I figured the 3900x would give me 3 or 4 years with the extra 4 cores and PCIE 4.0. If I could have got PCI-4.0 and ten cores on Z390 I'd have bought that more then likely.

Although the voltage on my 3900x is making me hate it at the moment so that could color my answer. Coming from Skylake the behavior of the chip is just a pain in the ass generally.

No but AMD fans and the rest of the flock love to think so, after all bashing on intel and loving AMD has been the thing for a couple of years now, always root for the underdog! And always exalt their products.

Well this is silly. They are just giant profit machines.

I'll buy whatever one I think I'll grow into. Right now AMD wins. Narrowly.

10nm would scare me were I AMD at least long term. Right now if you purely game which I'd imagine is the majority of OCN's audience a 9700k as far as I can tell is still the "best" CPU.

Consoles have Jaguar, they need it. Mantle came around when AMD had FX and needed more core parallelism.

If the need goes away, will the push for more parallelism? It takes precious power to turn all of the cores all of the way up.

I'm not taking this parallelism as gospel. Consoles are heading for a big change in their cpu capabilities and what has been happening in the past might not be the same as the future.
