I've got Type S speakers all around in my car. They honestly sound pretty horrible off a crappy head unit. That Dual head unit is going to be the first thing to go after I fix the body. sozo.gif

I was running them off of an Alpine IDA-X303... Then they got upgraded to this bad boy. Nothing but great things to say about this amp thumb.gif

Thinking about replacing the car amp/bass amp/subwoofers too and just doing a whole new system. Is that gonna be overkill or would I be able to get much louder/more clear sound? (I plan to get the trunk dynamated to stop some distortion as well.).

Depends on your budget to replace everything.

I'd start off with a good head unit, some good front speakers, and a good 2 channel amp to power them (have some rears of similar quality off the head unit for fill). If you're going to do sound dampening, do the whole car if possible. Or at LEAST do the door panels and trunk.

I am on a budget, but may be willing to save so I can add on as I go... depending on what plateaus there are. I'd like to keep it from 500-1000 but if it's not too crazy maybe I'll get more. Also definitely gonna be in this vehicle for a while so I might as well go with good quality right?

That bundle is bad. Anything that's bundled like that usually will be. Yeah, you're saving a good bit by "bundling", but not nearly as much as you'd think.

4ga wire - $30 or so for a kit
Type R 12" - $130
Box - build your own for about $30
Audiopipe AP10001D - $140 ish at vmiinnovations (or the 15001D which is $150 I believe)

Ever so slightly more expensive, but would be well worth the extra cash. You could also substitute the Type R 12 for a Fi Q 12 for $250 (soo well worth the money). The Fi SSD will be pretty similar to the Type R. There's a TON of other great subs out there too, but the Fi is one of my personal favorites, along with the Type R.

The speakers are pretty good though. They'll need an amplifier though, as a really doubt a head unit will sufficiently power those to their maximum (they handle 90w RMS each, a head unit is typically about 12-15w RMS per channel).

Go check out car audio classifieds. You'll find great prices on used gear. wink.gif Feel free to ask around in the car stereo club (link in my sig) as well.

How long are you planning on sticking with this vehicle?

The picture above is not as clear as I wish it were. There is a hole bashed out in every piston. You can see some valve-ends sort of "sitting" there. They busted off....

Given the big picture of modern engines, I'm not going to say that you should expect this, but the picture above, is that of an earlier year kia rio, probably a different engine but it's still interesting. I pulled the head to see the damage. Took pics, etc... FYI this was a well taken care of engine, relatively young (~100K) . Oh.. and the timing belt was not busted.

PS: I won't buy a kia/hyundia product at least for quite some time. I know they make very good value vehicles, but this experience has left a very bad taste in my sphincter. .

A CPU performance comparison chart.

Please tell me this is before they started overhauling their vehicle lineup. (Also i have bumper to bumper that doesn't run out until 2 years from this June).

ALSO: Could anyone link a few possible systems especially if it's one from scratch using no gear I have, or even using something I have right now. Just want to know what my priority to upgrade should be based on price and what not. Once again 500-1000 if possible but a little more wouldn't kill me, especially if it involves adding on to what I have down the road.
