Yeah i did take a look at the onkyo receiver however i cannot buy online. frown.gif

For the speakers, what is your estimate of life cycle on them if i add a sub-woofer later on? They wont have to do the low bass so less excursion, less use on the cone?

I considered buying another cheap Logitech system but i really want to have nicer than that since i listen to a lot of music. I want to have quality.

The Yamaha Rx-v373, and the Polk audio RTIA1 would cost me about 840$ taxes in.. Plus a shelves to put the speaker on so about 900$

At that price, would the quality be night and day like i expect it to be or minor changes?

Never believe the hype.
Consoles aren't about hardware, they're about good games.

Ok, well that rules out the internet direct companies as well then.

You will notice a big improvement over the logitech speakers. Logitech speakers use very small speakers and therefore cannot move a lot of air. It really is not a good idea to runs some small bookshelf speakers as full ranger as they simply cannot reproduce those low frequencies. Especially those that are below 80hz. If you add a sub pretty soon you will have a system that should last a long time.

What the real killer in speakers are is distortion which you will hear when you start to run into problems. When you hit this point, turn down the volume and your speakers should last a long time if you dont put your finger through the surrounds, etc.

Best Regards,
Bryan
