lg tv (42lg6300) and logitech z2300 speaker connection help

hello all,

my tv is currently the lg 42lg6300, and i bought the logitech z2300 speakers for a good price. i am trying to hook it up to my tv, but am not finding a way to do it. the tv doesnt have a headphone port, so i cant connect it that way. it has 3 hdmi ports, and the normal red/white/red/blue/greenyellow, and lastly the optical port. i went to best buy to buy a red/white male to red/white male and try to get it conencted that way, but doesnt seem to work. so im wondering if there is any optical to red/white male connector or any other sort of way i can get is working.

sorry if any of this is hard to read as i dont really know how best to describe the set up. thanks in advance.

I presume it's something like this you've tried?

something else to bear in mind you may have to configure the tv to play out through the ports, my Sony tv has a soundbar linked via optical cable but it didn't auto route the sound like your phone would when you plug in headphones, I had to go to settings > speakers > external device otherwise it just played out the built in speakers.

i assume the red/white parts on that go to the tv and the female black thing is the headphone port that the speakers has the male end for?

Correct, that way it will route the audio though a standard aux connection then.

Just make sure you put them in the correct holes on the back of the TV so check your manual if you're unsure.

The LG 42lb6300 does not have any kind of analog audio outputs. Plain and simple, it's the current trend among TV's.
So you will not be able to connect the speakers to the TV without an external DAC that you connect to either the HDMI-ARC (Audio Return Channel) port or the optical port of the TV.

TV specs and manual:

Optical DAC:
https://www.amazon.com/PROZOR-Digita...ds=optical+dac

PS: Those RCA ports that you see in the back of the TV are all inputs.

Ppl should learn to add more info to their posts when they ask for help...
