Purchasing a GoPro 4 Black and noticed it doesn't come with a micro SD card.
Which are the best brands or does it matter? Will probably get a couple 64GB cards.

I recently picked up a sony as100 and used a samsung evo 64gb card for its "pro mode" recording (1080p @60) which said it needed a 45mbps card at least to use pro mode, overall so far ive not seen any problems.

From what i read while researching cameras with the gopro 4's they recommend using at least a class 10 card or uhs-1 and with 4k video recording it is recommended to have a card that is at least 45 mbps. Again im not an expert in this but just some things i read while doing some research on some of these cameras. redface.gif

You could look at some of the sandisk extreme cards or sandisk extreme plus, i thought i saw on best buys black friday ad they had a 64gb sandisk extreme plus (uhs-3) for ~$35 range

i just bought a 64GB sandisk extreme UHS-3 for $80 at best buy. right now is the time of the year to buy memory cards. they will be going for super cheap because of black friday. if you dont load up you will have to wait till next year. when it comes to prices at places like best buy, cards go for dirt cheap for black friday.

i suggest you grab one especially for 4K work you will want a 64GB which is the largest card the gopro will recognize.

Thanks guys for the tips. Rep+ for both.
I was wondering if you find one brand is better than the other?
GoPro will do a software update soon so we'll be able to use 128GB cards.

hm I dont think there is a better brand if the speed from the sd card is fine. Samsung and Sandisk are rock solid. Lexar, Transcend etc are good aswell.
Just avoid the super cheap sd cards from not so well known brands.

ive been shooting photos and video for almost 7 years. i will only use Sandisk or PNY. i dont trust any other brand as they all have failed me at some point in the past. honestly im not a PNY fan but for the money if im in a pinch ill buy them.

if you find a card that is much cheaper than Sandisk or PNY then its too good to be true and should not be trusted. i also dont buy cards from ebay because i have spoken with people that got ripped off because people will peel the labels off and switch the cards with cheaper ones and yeah no bueno. not an issue with Micro-SD cards as they dont have a label but SD and CF cards do

I've learned to be able to shoot [email protected] with protune "on" your maxing out throughput of the new GoPro4 Black.
You pretty much need the SanDisk Extreme PRO®
It has a read & write @ 95mb/s

According to this website, 128GB lexar card is perfect for Gopro 4 black. However I usually prefer to have 64 GB sandisk that worked perfectly for me.
