I am conducting a poll to see how many of our members have experienced SSD failure.

I just experienced it last night. Which sucks, because it was my main OS and Steam Games drive.

I have a new (smaller) one on the way just for the OS, and this time a WD Caviar Black for all the other files and games since I don't want to take a chance on another failure. Lucky the important files were backed up. The drive was about a year old.

In researching new SSDs online, I noticed quite a few people have had SSDs go out on them.

In all the SSD review articles, they talk about failure rates compared with regular mechanical drives and how they should last a long time, yet, this is not what the actual user reviews show.

So I thought, why not post a poll and see how many of our users here have had an SSD failure?

EDIT: Good suggestion from FiX: If you've had an SSD go out on you, post up what kind.

Dont have an SSD, but looking into getting one. Should be interesting. Make sure to tell people to post what model of SSD as well.

Just get one. As long as you stay away from OCZ drives you will be fine. I had 3 faulty drives in a row from OCZ.

My old G.Skill Falcon 64GB failed after suffering too many power brownouts (before I got a UPS); I should be getting a Samsung 830 for Christmas. The speed was too addicting to just live without it much longer.

I've had 3 OCZ SSDs die on me due to their firmware updates being awful. I'd update the drives and then two weeks later they'd disappear from the BIOS and never show up again.

Not sure if this fits in your category. The updates completed fine and seemed to work well for two weeks, then they died.

I had a Mushkin 256GB go out on me. It happened while just using Windows, nothing extreme. All of a sudden got "unable to find drive specified".

"That's odd", I thought, so I rebooted. And lost my new PC! BIOS wouldn't even see it. Tried different cable, different port, unplugging and leaving off for awhile, then replugging in, nada. It's just gone...

I love mine, sadly my steam folder is bloated and I can no longer utilize my ssd for Steam. I hope to get another or a larger one for the holidays.

Hi, yes I bought my OCZ the minute they came out. I should have know from all the computer parts and software coming out these days to stay clear of them until all the bugs have been rung out. Yes fail, and I'm sure lots of people who have firmware 2.02-2.06 on there OCZ vertex 3 have some sort of fail going, even if they don't know where the FAIL IS

Kid in class had an intel 64GB drop to 64kb. It was funny. Kid was smart enough to store his classwork on the SSD too.

He RMA'd it by the way and lost alot of competed labs.
