How is the 840 Evo firmware update done outside of Windows?

Please bench SSD using he tune pro or ssd read speed tester before doing the new optimization feature they added. According to the reviews, The fw update alone should have brought up your speed

Can you hook up an 840 EVO from a MAC to a Windows PC to do the firmware update and performance restoration? Or does it only work with Windows formatted drives?

Here is a mega link i found with the latest 4.6 from samsung and the firmware update.

Edit: This is today's download from the the samsung site, i got it from overclockers.co.uk.
But i still don't get the firmware update it looks like sammy disabled it.

I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested!

Unfortunately, the download limit for the day has been reached, please try again within 24 hours.

OK... Samsung has jumped the shark with this one, again. What on earth are they thinking ? They're just messing with our heads.

I will sell my 840 EVO TODAY and buy another CRUCIAL instead, and NEVER LOOK BACK ! Samsung is not serious at all, this has become really embarrassing for Samsung. I will NEVER TRUST them again.

Why would you sell someone a POS evo? are you that horrible a person? Get your refund. Don't plague someone else with this... has samsung twisted your heart, are you on the dark side with them now?

Do your own research and testing, both for peace of mind that (a) What you're reading is true, and that (b) Your gear ain't defective!
