As I noticed with the 950 Pro, the SM961 more heated with the Samsung drivers than with Microsoft drivers, bizarre

It's the same with you?

Sorry for my english

Most likely because it is being more effectively utilised. More throughput=more heat.

I am also having DPC_watchdog_violation BSOD when running CDM 5.1.2 using the Samsung NVMe driver 1.4.7.17. No problem using default Microsoft driver (however it did previously perform better using the Samsung driver)

I note this only seems to have started since Windows 10 Anniversary update version 1606 build 14393.51 was installed.

Fingers crossed it just requires a Samsung NVMe driver update or a Windows update.

Given it worked fine before the Anniversary update I'm confident it's not a hardware fault. I am however interested what would happen if a firmware update is required for the SM961 given that it is an OEM drive?

I stayed with the Microsoft drivers, no difference in use, and that less heat biggrin.gif

So during my tests with Samsung SM961 512GB, I have detected that my Crucial MX200 has better performance that SM961 biggrin.gif

I can not understand what is happenning with my computer?
Can someone explain this?
But this heppens only if I use storahci(Microsoft standart AHCI driver), when I install Intel AHCI driver, the maximum read performance was about 550MB/s.
But the thing is that tha Sata Interface can only maximum 600MB/s, how my computer can get such a performence, I thought
perhaps the benchmarks is not working correct with Crucial mx200, it just painted numbers, but when I copy a Big file 8GB, the write performance was really about 1600MB/s.

So this is the pictures

So really I need explanation for that, who can explain that?

Shoud I schange it to Intel AHCI driver, becouse it could damage my Crucial MX200, or I stay with this driver?

Can anyone confirm SM961 will overheat (system/app crash) when running intensive seq read benchmark like IOMeter for ~5 minutes?
It seems like thermal throttling does only apply to write workloads
If so, what FW version does your SM961 have?

Why read in 5 minutes?

You can read 2TB in one minute tongue.gif

My 2 x 1TB sm961 does not overheat. I use them, not abuse them wink.gif
