Hi guys, my next buy for my 'Lucky7' sig rig is probably going to be a second Sandisk 960GB SATA SSD.
I am after some more space and whilst im at it thought a little performance bump from RAID 0 might be nice.
I was tempted by an NVMe SSD when I built the system but the price put me off considering all reviews showed NO real world gains between a 3500MB/s NVMe SSD and a simple 500MB/s SATA SSD. And then I read about thermal throttling issues etc...
Its about £1000 for a 2TB NVMe SSD whereas a pair of Sandisk 960GB Ultra II's comes in around £550 in total and the current state of affairs show no real world gains from NVMe SSD's over SATA.
Any issues with this? Am I missing something that will make me buy NVMe?
Years ago when SSD's first hit the scene I ran a pair of Crucial C300 128GB's in RAID 0 with no problems.
And yes... I am fully aware of how RAID works, and the importance of backups.
