Hey, anyone alive here?

Guys, I need advice, regarding over-provisioning. I've bought 970 Evo plus recently, for 1TB. OP is 10%, which is almost 100GB!
So, I know about OP, TRIM, perfomance, endurance, nand cell's replacements, etc.. But, I'm really lost regarding all this in real life, i.e. how it actually looks in "home" kind of usage.

Thus, I would like to keep some volume for myself - and since I've considered 1TB as totally needed... Simply put, I don't know how much OP space to leave.
As an example, for 1,5 years of active usage, I've wrote ~18TB of data on previous system SSD. I thought about calculating probable wearing level, but something tells me it's just stupid and won't give me any hint.

You do not need over provisioning with TRIM supported by the OS.

If you don't fill the SSD, the free space is the buffer. And in that case, since you would fill it without the OP, you would not have enough space for OP anyway.

Well, thats no more relevant any more, since I've tried changing OP in magician....so, I thought it would give me smth like 1024GB available if I disable it manually, so it reported "10% is allocated for OP, total size is 930GB" But turned out, 930 is full capacity no matter what's OP size is. Furhtermore, despite being reported as 10%, IRL it looks like OP is set to 0% by samsung - cause setting 1% OP manually gives you 921 GB of usefull space.

Holy cow they are expensive. I'll wait for the new tech tax to wear off, and get a HP ex920 for now, and an "old" sata3 1TB SSD for games only.

Here's a post I made in 2012, commenting on how I scored an 256GB Samsung 830 SATA SSD for $190, with some benchmark screen shots.

I just populated my latest build with 516GB Samsung 970 Pro M.2 NVME drives for $167 ea. So $20 less, twice the capacity, and several times faster.

Edit: those 830s are still running fine, the computer they are in gets more hours of use per day than any of the rigs I've built since then. One 830 is the system disk, the other is an image of the first that I update occasionally.

Here's the new one, doesn't score as well. MBR @ 4096?

Here's the 970 Pro drives, slowest one is my system drive - thought it was on CPU bus, turns out it's the PCH, the D E & F are all CPU.

I test the 970 EVO Plus, compared to 970 EVO, it is more powerful, but I feel that it heats more, about 4, 5° (same firmware for 2, weird)

Does anyone else have an EVO Plus anymore ?

I have Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB.
But I wait Aqua Computer Kryo M.2.

I didn't had 970 EVO. They are same only is firmware different, but specifications show insane speed difference.
Not worth for upgrade but no discusion what to buy in future. Because people with 960 and 970 Series no reason to upgrade before speed reach 5500-5000.

I don't know is it smart to install without heatsink?

I was happy that WD launched SN750 faster little than 970 EVO.
And go to order him when people told me... You didn't saw 970 EVO PLUS?
I check specification and SHOCK. 3500-3000 ideal, 10% less as reviews describe.
Better than 1TB 960 PRO.
