Usually these stickers are backed by a foil, they can't be removed because there are no other markings to indicate what drive it is, so if you plan to RMA one you need that sticker to be on it. I keep the sticker on and use heatsink no problem. I see no reason to remove the sticker.
In this particular case it's similar to cutting identification from almost anything, such as damaging/removing identification from an IHS of a CPU. As then you look at it and... "What is it?" You can't tell! The person inspecting your RMA has to be able to identify as you could have easily swapped some useless rubbish or other part with a blank IHS of your returned supposed 3950X.
In case of non identification warranty void stickers... that's something else, depends on your country's law.
