It looks like ATLAS is the project with the most work at the moment.  I still haven't been able to get any work, but here is a link to a thread on the LHC forums about running ATLAS. https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/forum_thread.php?id=4161#29359

LHC sucks as the swimming project..... No doubt about that.

Cosmo is still much in doubt just because it is the marathon..... we cannot afford to slack off on it in fact if we could throw a little bit more at it or build a few more bunkers for later on would be nice........

Zika, as far as the first six positions is almost set, the only danger we face to our position is GC. they are gaining at half a mil/day on us but have 4 mil to make up with 2.5 days to go. Not going to happen unless they have some hidden bunkers. at their current rate of production they aren't even going to catch LaF. We are no danger to those teams ahead of us, we are matching them in production but at 8 mil behind SG we have no chance there. I would say 5th position is pretty solid barring any surprises.

LHC, we have to throw some machines at it no matter if there are WU's available or not. Personally I'm going to put the DP on it bunkering whatever I get.

This is the gamble..... Throw some more at bunkering Cos (which we should do), Throw some at LHC even without any work available (we have to) Take a risk that someone is holding a bunker or bunkers of Zika (Any remaining bunkers should be dropped tomorrow, at about the day and a half mark)

I think this would be our best course of action......

(and continue to bunker einstein on every GPU that has a pulse)

Just my humble opinion...

I'm really upset now. I did some system updates to my NAS, which I haven't done in almost a year (because I had no need too when everything works fine) in order to install virtualbox. After a reboot every WCG task it was working on finished with a computation error. mad.gif

I've installed virtualbox and loaded the kernel modules and the project still says it isn't installed. I don't know what to do next, this is a headless machine.

I've set up a virtual machine on my 2P (again!) and get an error message in the BOINC event log that I don't have virtualbox installed. At the same time I've downloaded ten SixPack tasks. Virtualbox shows nothing running. Is this normal? I've googled and have seen reference to an app_config but haven't found anything definitive or useful, like "copy/paste".

I agree with all of the above.  Crunch whatever we can on LHC, and for the next 24 hours maintain our pace at WCG and Cosmo.  With so few tasks available for LHC, I would imagine that the pace on the other projects will remain relatively the same.

The Six Track tasks don't require Virtual Box.  It is all the other LHC tasks that need it.

As far as having VirtualBox installed, you will need to restart the client after you install it, but for the tasks you are currently running it isn't necessary.

Yay 1st two Theory tasks had a computation error. rolleyes.gif Some others are still going. Maybe cause I was switching around what tasks were running. I was checking to see if the vbox apps were running.
https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/result.php?resultid=137700424

Atlas seems to be pretty quick. 10min, 16% at 91% CPU of 8 threads on 2670v1.

I thought these did require VB. At any rate, I'm running ten at 75% CPU usage and 5 gb RAM usage. Should be able to run more with 24 threads.

Just the one app does not require vbox, like Cosmo. Lots of memory required here. Atlas is using 9gb and CMS 2.4gb.

Edit: Networking needs to be enabled as well for vbox apps.

I configured for all tasks, but I get the "VirtualBox is not installed" in event log. Networking is on. Or am I missing something?
