Projects of the Month for September 2018

September Projects of the Month

TN-Grid
Start: 4 - Goal: 4 - End: 4 | We are pretty well set at 4th overall, but we have a shot a snagging a few points in the Formula BOINC Marathon
[email protected]
Start: 8 - Goal: 8 - End: 8 | Another project where we can possibly pick up some points in Formula BOINC. [email protected] is also slowly closing the gap on us in the overall rankings, so with a nice push we can solidify our #8 ranking
PrimeGrid
Start: 23 - Goal: 23 - End: 23 | We have lost a few spots this year in PrimeGrid so a little bump in production would be nice. Also, did I mention the badges, they've got lots of badges.

Prime Grid is one of my favorites. Lots of badges indeed. And even a chance to be credited as the discoverer of a prime number.

For max points on PrimeGrid, you can run PPS-Sieve but you wont find prime numbers this way.
For best chance of finding a mega prime (and get a special badge), try running GFN-17-Mega or Proth Mega Prime Search LLR (MEGA)

Also decent points from running AP27 and GFN-22. Not likely to find prime with GFN-22 due to the size and they also can take months to validate. AP27 does have a chance of special badge for finding a big AP.

Manual sieving returns good points (GFN22) but you don't run that through the BOINC client... so no WUProp hours. It does give BOINC points once manually uploaded and validated.

Universe seems to be the best for Pi's. I'm averaging 47K PPD.

I tried TN-Grid and Einstein on them, but it wasn't worth it.

I found a Prime! Running GFN 15 and they only take a bit over 1min on by RX580.

Dear Primefinder,

Congratulations! Our records indicate that a computer registered by you has found a unique prime number. This computer is assigned to the Generalized Fermat Prime Search n=15 (GFN-15). Since candidates on this subproject are not large enough to report to the Top 5000 Primes List, your prime is visible immediately.

Workunit 580072042 : 98929908^32768+1 (261991 digits)

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us and we will surely resolve any problems.

Once again, congratulations on your find! Thank you for participating in PrimeGrid.

Sincerely,
The PrimeGrid Staff

Yes, a good chance of finding "small" primes from GFN 15
Looks like you were also the double-checker for another one
