Projects of the Month for November 2018

November Projects of the Month

World Community Grid
Start: 67 - Goal: 67 - End: 68 | We have a shot at passing 400 million points this month, and the 14th WCG Birthday Challenge runs from Nov 16th-22nd.
Distributed Hardware Evolution Project
Start: 21 - Goal: 19 - End: 18 | Due to a credit anomaly we have dropped quite a few spots, but it sounds like they are going to zero the credits from the days that gave unusually high credits. No idea what our goal should be. This project is still new and has some odd behavior, but I thought we could give it a go.
Collatz Conjecture
Start: 7 - Goal: 7 - End: 7 | We dropped a spot in Collatz last month, and we have a few teams that are creeping up on us.

The DHEP admin hadn't responded after I had 1st asked about fixing the stats. I had seem some produce a 3rd of their total credit in those 3 days. I only noticed cause I dropped a team place and like 12 overall. Over 10k hours and a pinto of PCs could have passed me in credit during those 3 days.

Be sure to optimize the collatz app for your GPU by edit the .config file in the project folder. Some examples are here:

It has been quite a while since I ran Collatz. I may have to dial it down a bit, since for now I'll only be running it on my primary GPU.

Is anyone else having issues getting Collatz tasks? I can't get any tasks for an NVIDIA GPU in Linux.

No problems getting tasks for my GTX 950. (Linux Mint 18.3)

Edit: Just remembered, there was some Gridcoin cheating a few months back and you may have to detach/re-attach to implement the enhanced security measures set up by the project.

No issues here with mine in Ubuntu 18.04 on 2 machines. I have seen several posts about 410 not crunching well or at all in Linux on several projects.

No issues with the 410.66 drivers on GPUGrid, PrimeGrid, or Einstein, but those are the only projects projects that I have run on those drivers.

I haven't been able to run Collatz since it came back online. I've reset, detached, and re-added the project multiple times. No errors, it just never gets any tasks:
Code:
Sun 04 Nov 2018 06:57:25 PM MST | collatz | Sending scheduler request: Requested by user.
Sun 04 Nov 2018 06:57:25 PM MST | collatz | Requesting new tasks for NVIDIA GPU
Sun 04 Nov 2018 06:57:25 PM MST | collatz | [sched_op] CPU work request: 0.00 seconds; 0.00 devices
Sun 04 Nov 2018 06:57:25 PM MST | collatz | [sched_op] NVIDIA GPU work request: 74063.50 seconds; 1.00 devices
Sun 04 Nov 2018 06:57:25 PM MST | collatz | [sched_op] AMD/ATI GPU work request: 0.00 seconds; 0.00 devices
Sun 04 Nov 2018 06:57:26 PM MST | collatz | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
Sun 04 Nov 2018 06:57:26 PM MST | collatz | [sched_op] Server version 711
Sun 04 Nov 2018 06:57:26 PM MST | collatz | Project requested delay of 121 seconds
Sun 04 Nov 2018 06:57:26 PM MST | collatz | [sched_op] Deferring communication for 00:02:01
Sun 04 Nov 2018 06:57:26 PM MST | collatz | [sched_op] Reason: requested by project

*EDIT* Evidently I just needed to make this post to get work. After making zero changes on my end I just got work on two machines.
