Looks like my drivers were borked for some reason. After going through some linux boot loop suggestions I tried nvidia-smi which was no bueno. Installed the PPA, driver 396, reboot and it logged in ok. Also had to reset coolbits. Back up and folding.

I was trying to get a new BOINC project working on my FAH TC computer (probably should have tried on another PC) and it broke the NV drivers. I ended up in some dependency loop where I couldn't get an NV driver installed due to libc6 which needed other dependencies with needed libc6. Ended up installing 18.04 but now I can't get FAH to recognize any GPUs. First openCL wouldn't install with the PPA so I installed it manually but the FAH client still says there are 0 GPUs even with CUDA and OpenCL listed.

clinfo returns info. I've tried several different driver versions from the PPA. The FAH client keeps adding in a CPU slot even though I keep removing it. I won't be able to work on it again until maybe later tonight/tomorrow.

I should have a 1080 delivered today that I can swap in to replace my 980Ti in GPU-L. More PPD for less power.

This'll bring up up to all Pascal/Polaris cards (not including the winter time only 280x I run for BOINC FP64 projects).

I made the swap. FAH didn't like it so the old task was dumped. But from 700-720k PPD to 860k PPD atm with just a 100MHz offset. I know nvidia-smi was over 200W+ for the 980Ti and now its at 172W and its just at 50C.

From what I hear, that GPU really responds well to an OC, look forward to seeing what you end up putting down! If I can ever get my 980 under control, we have a great chance of putting up a good fight with Infinity and the PPD Police

A steady 2025MHz at +120 offset. 48C on an MSI Gaming 8G card. Even at 80% fan it's still not that loud. At least with everything else in the room. 870k PPD at the +120 offset. With a bit more I should be close to mbmumford.
