Today, I was cleaning my good old G11, and I did a pretty good job there, to be honest
However, I managed to break the poor thing in the process. I wanted to unscrew the front grey plastic plate on which the keys are then attached, and managed to break off a connector from the PCB. So smart as I am, I whip out the soldering iron, and voila! Good as new.
What I failed to notice was that the iron burned through the paper-thin ribbon cables that come from the contacts below the membrane. Now several keys are dead - the numpad enter and + , p, š, đ, č, ć, 7, 8, and several G keys. Thus, the keyboard is more or less useless.
Unfortunately, I did not take any pictures of the damage. The damaged part is the plastic sheet below the membrane, or its ribbon cable. about 4 wires in that cable got burned off. I feel really stupid right now...
Is it possible to get that part somewhere? Or should I just consider a new one?
