Corsair iCue 1GB really?

I can't believe software to change the color of the K68 keyboard I just bought is 1GB installed. What bloatware! What the hell does it do that requires so much space? This reminds me of the HP printer software & driver from 15 years ago that took up 300MB.

Are there any alternatives? Or can I install the software and uninstall once I get the color scheme I like?

its 950mb chinese bloat.
there are alternative brands, like ducky, or WASD. any true flagship keyboard maker (What corsair emulates poorly) does whatever icue does. I have 4 WASDs in the fleet. Family members use it, & they fall in love. Zero dead LEDs on my oldest, which is 5 years.

Depending on the specific Corsair keyboard you get, you can either set static colors for all keys for the 1st generation, or set up to 3 hardware profiles with up to 5 "layers" in advanced mode for the K95 Platinum or K70 Mk.2. If your desired effect can be achieved with those limitations, you won't need the software running.

Otherwise a lot of the "fancier" effects (including what I'd consider basic things like more than 5 unique static colors) require the software to be running and communicating with the keyboard. Even locking the screen will cause it to revert back to one of the hardware profiles.

Audio setup: Harman/Kardon AVR 347 | Polk Audio Monitor 30 x2 | Polk PSW10 | Behringer DEQ1024 | Earthquake MQB1 x2
Headphone setup: Cambridge Audio DACMagic | Little Bear P8 tube amplifier | Beyerdynamic DT990 600 ohm

iCUE is Corsair Link + Corsair CUE. If you only need one then install that instead of iCUE.

Thanks. I'll look into those and see if they do what I want (just to change colors once for static lighting).

How much system resources is it using? The older Corsair CUE2 software is using 78.9MB of RAM 0.2-3% CPU. ICUE install is that large due to them combing CUE2+Link. ICUE allow you to sync newer Corsair RGB products.

I'm still running older Corsair CUE2 software.

Icue on my system is running keyboard, mouse, 14 rgb strips, res, pump, cpu block, ax1500i link, two commander pros for 12 fans and a node pro. Hovers around 0.5, 0.6 cpu usage, 1.0 if dashboard is up. 53 mb ram usage regardless of what profiles I'm using. I'm not sure why the download size is such a big deal? Compared to all the other control software I've used it's the least annoying and most updated. Aquero setups beat it for more cash and might be what I use for my next build, but haven't had any issues with this setup.

I just went and googled those. So you're saying you've spent nearly $1000 just on KEYBOARDS. Not video cards, not motherboards, not even monitors. KEYBOARDS. Jesus I wish I had your disposable income; I'm scrambling worried that I've overextended myself for half that on cpu+ram+motherboard to last me another five+ years. Get a life.

I know I'm probably alone in this. I registered only to say that and I won't say anything else.
