I use 31 on a Artisan Hayate, which is black. When I was testing out the Artisan Shiden, which is white, I was using 30a.

The Scarab seems to be white, so you might run into problems when using firmware 31 or 32. My Spawn does not function on an Artisan Shiden (which is white) when using 31 or 32. The only firmware which works with my white mouse pad is 30a.
For more information on the different firmware versions of the Spawn see here and here.

If your looking to use a light colored pad with the same shape. The Xornet performs really well on light surfaces.

Best firmware for the spawn on light surfaces would be 30a.

Quick question: are there any further firmwares for the Spawn in development?

When I was using the spawn I prefered the 30a ones. The firmwares which fix lift off have a really low malfunction speed.

On my Qck I use 30a, works perfectly fine on it. 31 had a very low LOD and would sometimes lose tracking and 32 had a higher LOD. I would test them all out to see which one fits your mousepad as material as well as color will affects the performance and will be different for everyone.

Voodoo 2 -> MX440 -> 9800Pro -> 6800GT -> X1900XT ->
9800GT -> 4870 -> 5850 -> 6970 -> 7950 -> 770 -> 780 -> 290 -> 970 -> 970M -> 1070

As UZ7 wrote above, you should try all 3 fw for yourself. In my opinion fw 31 isn't working properly even on mono black mousepad (very low max speed). Fw 32 is good and fw 30a is fine too but LOD is pretty high. Fw 30a should give best tracking on different mousepads.

This post is supposed to be written in English, at least I did my best, to make it as close to English as I could :-)

+1 Appreciate it =) found this thread on google lol
31 has the worst perfect control speed of any mouse I've ever used, on my QCK.
30a is not bad.

Personally I'M IN LOVE with the shape of the mouse, I can live with the so-so LOD

[edit] with tape fix I'm at 1.5mm liftoff and 3.79m/s PCS according to enotus on firmware 61, it feels excellent while gaming
