So I've been hearing a lot of hype about the 3366/3360 sensor but I still don't know exactly why it's an upgrade over the 3310. Can anyone explain to me the reasons why the 3366/3360 is so hyped?

less variance, lower latency, higher cpi, less jitter on higher cpi steps, higher fps

Thanks for the clarification, though isn't higher CPI (or DPI) the same thing as higher FPS?

Feel free to flame or correct me if I'm wrong, but think of CPI as sensor resolution, the ability of it to detect an image shift when the sensor position on the surface has changed and how much shift is required for it to register a 1 pixel movement change. Wow thanks for the explanation, this makes it much easier to understand. As for the 3366/3360, do they also interpolate the higher DPI steps? And do they have a "native" step in-which tracking works best on?

3360/66 doesn't really have native steps, they are all equally good, but it's a good idea to stay under 1600-2000 (because no one needs more, end of story).

To me, 3366 feels more alive ,more "lethal" , yet less consistent. I have to be in the zone in order to take advantage of the sensor.
3310 is more forgiving ,easier to move around, more consistent, less raw.
If I had to use an expression, 3310 is easier to pick up and get you going, 3366 can allow you to reach greatness.

There is a difference between the two - you have to use them to experience it.

I have both 3310 and 3366/3360 mice and you can notice the difference when playing games like DOTA 2. The 3310 mice is more picky with surfaces though - it actually made me buy a new mouse pad to use it correctly .

Talking from a neutral perspective since I'm dumb and don't know anything technical, I feel the 3366 is just more snappy/responsive. Think DA 2013/chroma, minus the synapse interfering. I generally have to move the mouse less, to achieve more. While with the 3310, I kinda need to give more effort if I want to be precise, even at the same DPI. This just feels smooth and powerful.

imo the difference between the 3366 and the 3310 is not groundbreaking, specielly the Zowie ones, but it still IS better, but not worth it if you don't feel comfortable with the shape/features of the mouse you're getting, just because of the sensor.

Rather have 3310 comfortable mouse, than a 3366 heavy lifting brick.
