Polling Rate on Mouse Unstable Windows 10

Hi guys, i'm on windows 10 and my polling rate is really unstable. I've tried different mouse etc. G pro wireless/fk2. I've got usb 3 drivers installed properly and tried different usb ports with no avail. Power options are on high etc.

Even on 500/1000hz both are unstable. When i tested it on my work PC (with windows 7) both mice polling rate are fine so it's something with my build.

When i say unstable i mean the polling rate will jump from 1000hz to 4hz to 500hz to 900 hz etc, the average sits around 900hz even when i do fast swipe/stops. When i do the same thing on my work computer i average like 998hz.

Cheers

I'm having the same problem (EDIT: double checked on win 8.1 and turned out to have the same problem). I'm familiar with that linked thread but I don't see windows 10 mentioned.

Searching that thread for "windows 10" (with or without quotation marks) doesn't work. It leaves out the "10" no matter what.

EDIT: I've removed various info from this comment as my issue turned out to not be a windows 10 problem, but seemingly a problem with my motherboard.

Another thread from 2016. And another with more discussion (I don't see any solutions though).

High level competitive gamer (CS 1.6).
In my opinion any "gaming" mouse pad over $10 is a rip off unless you want to spend money on pure aesthetics. The $8 Supermat is better and cheaper than any "gaming" mousepad I've used. Zeus Gear XL is a good alternative.

I will not answer PMs that could/should be asked in threads.

You guys should try figuring out why Windows 10 is giving notably different results than 8.1, maybe make a post on Microsoft technical forum, give the tool, how to measure and demonstrate what the differences are. Maybe the mouse reporting tool isn't optimized for the latest windows 10s drivers/architecture. Could be quite a few reasons.

Has anyone tried running the software in compatibility mode (win8, win7) to see if it affects the measurments?

Best R0ach Quote of all time : TLDR: Haswell might be the last legit gaming platform unless mice get their own non-USB interface on some newer architecture.

Hey r0ach, glad to see you posting again. Question: I thought that mouse input latencies/instabilities were mitigated through changing the USB affinity from core 0 to another core?

On that note, mousetester looks like it defaults to run on core 2 (affinity), realtime priority class (not usually recommended) and highest thread priority. Anyone tried changing these? Would it be worth changing these to more realistic values i.e. the way games would capture mouse data.
