Intellimouse Settings Greyed Out


I have a Microsoft Classic Intellimouse from Amazon running on Windows 7 64-bit, but when I go into the Control Panel & Mouse settings, the settings in the Buttons tab are greyed out (screenshot below). The mouse is here:

I want to make the scroll wheel middle button be a 'Back' button. I have downloaded and installed the Intellipoint 8.2 driver from here:

How do I make this not greyed out so I can get it to work? Thanks.

Try software compatibility mode or reinstall or a different source for the software (or a slightly older version)
If the above still didn't work go into device manager and delete the hid mouse drivers manually then replug the mouse and see if it reappears. You can use a second mouse to delete the drivers too. If it still doesnt work after that maybe its counterfeit or the cable connector isn't fully seated in the mouse pcb, there are many possibilities.
