Mouse Polling Rate Fluctuates at 1000Hz

Hey, if your mouse polling rate fluctuates between 950Hz to 1090Hz (for example) it appears to introduce jitter.
Is there any way to fix it and still keep it at 1000Hz or do you need to just use 500Hz?
Power limits appear to be ok but I don't believe they are linear to what having a stable 1000Hz that doesn't fluctuate.

Interesting video...I know there are plenty others out there.

I very much mistrust videos like that. His method is fine for figuring out he has some kind of problem at 1khz, but he's just stopping there instead of figuring out what's causing the problem, and who else it applies to.

With high probability it is not fluctuating of POLLING rate.

Yeah, he did stop to what is causing the problem and honestly I don't think he knows. However, it does appear that 500hz gave me a better aim then at 1000hz. Which has me wondering how to fix it and still keep it at 1000hz?

isn't it "supposed" to fluctuate a bit?

https://zowie.benq.com/ja/support/mo...e-checker.html

making exactly the same mouse movements I get a range of +/- ~70hz (@ 1000hz).

unless it's just an issue with the site and not actual polling rate. never really spent any time looking into it, never had any issues either

That tool is running in the browser, using it to determine how consistent your polling rate is is like trying to detect an earthquake while sitting on a boat in the middle of the ocean.

If you look at the USB interface directly, you shouldn't have that kind of fluctuation, but Windows is not a real time operating system, so it can take a while before the scheduler gets around to actually processing the input events. That's before you add in the browser and whatever APIs are running on top of that.

Also, the mouse itself may have poorly written firmware. If the mouse is poorly implemented the sensor reads might not be synchronized or even the same rate as the USB polling.

Have you ever tried to log in here and you overshoot or simply miss the log in button? If you are using 1000hz that may explain why it happens.
Ever since I reduced it to 500Hz I don't have that issue any more.

In any case after using mouse rate checker and Direct Input Mouse Rate does confirm the high fluctuation. Lowering it to 500hz clearly shows less fluctuation.

Granted there will always be some form of fluctuation but it shouldn't be higher then 30+Hz IMO. Because for me it effects my ability to properly navigate the cursor. And it became more pronounce the higher the DPI I use. Making 800dpi and lower more ideal at 1000hz. Which defeats the purpose.

Most of the time, when I've had mouse movement issues, it was fixed by pulling an eyelash or something out of the lens, not by changing polling rate.

Yeah, I've cleaned the sensor.

Yes, there will be fluctuation. However, the fluctuation at 1000hz is more then at 500hz.
At 1000hz it's around 80hz+ max average around 60hz+
At 500hz it's around 10hz max. Average around 5hz+.

I found a download like for:
Mouse Rate
Direct Input Mouse Rate

Its normal for it to fluctate, it depends on how fast you move the mouse too, plus firmware on the mouse itself besides motherboard, windows settings and so on.

I urge you to run Mousetester instead to see if you have -MASSIVE- spikes there, thats going to tell you a whole lot more than 80hz polling variance
